Congrats to the Girl’s and Boy’s Golf Teams for their recent success at the Region IV-6A Championships. This marks the 4th time in school history that the both the Boys and Girls have qualified teams for the State Tourney in the same years.
The Lady Jags secured a spot at the State Championships in May. The ladies were down 9 with 9 holes to go and secured their state tourney birth by 5 shots, outplaying their nearest opponents by 14 shots on the back nine in the final round. The ladies were led by senior Kiersten Bryant who shot rounds of 80-71 and finished 11th individually, senior Jordyn Wray who posted rounds of 74-79 and finished 14th individually, freshmen Stevie Albright who shot rounds of 79-82 and finished 24th, and Sophomore Kalyn Otten who had her best tournament as a Jaguar shooting rounds of 84-79 and finishing 29th individually. Junior Christina Trujillo also played well. The ladies will tee it up in Georgetown at the State Tourney on May 13-14, 2019.
The Jaguar Boys team posted the low final round of the Regional IV-6A Championships with a 4 over par 288 performance. After several weather delays and not getting to complete round 1, the Jags returned on Thursday to complete round 1 and put up a stellar performance in round 2. The Jags ran past their closest competitors by 30 shots in the final round to secure a State Birth. The Jags were led by Senior Garrett Martin who shot rounds of 72-67 – 3rd Individually, Senior Johnny Keefer who posted rounds of 71-73 – 9th Individually, Senior Josh Lim who shot rounds of 75-71 and finished 12th overall, and Freshman Kyle Mahan who shot rounds of 83-77 to finish 38th. Sophomore Joe Fontana also played well. The Jags will tee it up at the State Championships on May 20-21, 2019 in Georgetown.
This will mark the 15th time in the last 9 years that the Jags have competed for the State Title with both the boys and girls teams.
