Congrats to our girls’ and boys’ golf teams for their success this weekend at their respective tournaments. The ladies competed in the NEISD Swing 4 The Cure golf tournament at Brackenridge GC. The Swing plays host to the very best High School Girls Golf. The ladies were led by Juniors Jordyn Wray who posted rounds of 74-73-74 and finished 7th individually, Kiersten Bryant who shot rounds of 70-79-75 and finished 14th individually, Senior Lauren Cleer and Freshman Kalyn Otten also had solid performances. The ladies will be back in action in November at the Concan Invitational.
The boys’ golf team finished 4th at the Fall State Preview at Lakecliffe GC in Austin. The Jags were led by Juniors Johnny Keefer who posted blistering rounds of 64-74-64 for an 11 under par total to finish 3rd individually and Garrett Martin who fired red hot rounds of 72-69-66 for a 6 under par total to finish 7th individually. The tandem were a combined 17 under and continue to show one of the best one-two punches in the state. Senior Justin Abshire also played awesome firing a 2 under par 69 in the 2nd round as did Senior Jacob Trevino who posted a personal best 1 under par 70. Freshman Joe Fontana continued his solid play with rounds of 75-74-75. The Jags shot rounds of 288-282-286. The Jaguar boys have shot rounds in the 280’s in all but one round this fall. As the Fall Varsity Boys season concludes the Jags averaged 286 as a team while Garrett Martin and Johnny Keefer finished with averages of 67 and 69 respectively.
