This past weekend the Johnson Aquatics Team competed at the UIL State Swim and Dive Meet.
The team was comprised of Senior Boy Diver (Captain) Jason Checchin, and Girl Diver Braeden Shaffer (Fr.), who competed in the 1mtr diving. Swimmers at the meet included the Girls 4 x 100 freestyle relay- Cara Smith(Jr.), Macey Mayer(Soph.), Nicolette Wickes(Jr., and Hailey Miller(Jr.), and our individual representative for the team was Hailey Miller in the 100yd Backstroke.
Team results for the meet include notable performances by both divers and swimmers
1 mtr. Diving:
Jason Checchin and Braeden Shaffer both placed 9th in finals Saturday with the three dive final, following a 8 dive preliminary round Friday. Both divers advanced during the final round, Braeden moved from 11th place in the preliminary round, and Jason moved from 10th.
Girls 4 x 100 Freestyle Relay:
The girls relay team-Cara, Macey, Nicolette, and Hailey- improved their time and advanced from 22nd to 21st and look forward to a return to State next year.
Girls 100 Backstroke:
Hailey Miller placed 18th overall and was second alternate for finals
Overall the meet was educational experience for our team. All the girls that traveled this year will be able to apply what they learned to next years’ training regimen.
